A MTV divulgou hoje (30) a lista de indicados ao Video Music Awards (VMA) 2020 – com diversas surpresas e esnobações.
Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande lideram os nomeados ao terem sido relembradas em nove categorias cada, principalmente pelo sucesso colaborativo “Rain On Me”, um dos singles do álbum ‘Chromatica’. Gaga e Grande estão indicada a Vídeo do Ano, Colaboração do Ano, Melhor Vídeo Pop, Música do Ano e outras. Além disso, Gaga concorre a Artista do Ano ao lado de nomes como Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion e The Weeknd – com grande chances de levar a estatueta para casa.
Gaga já levou para casa 13 estatuetas da premiação e, até hoje, carrega o recorde da artista com maior número de indicações em uma temporada (também treze), vencendo oito delas. Grande, por sua vez, já ganhou cinco vezes, incluindo Artista do Ano em 2019.
As duas são seguidas de perto por Taylor Swift, indicada a cinco categorias por seu penúltimo trabalho de estúdio, o álbum ‘Lover’. Ela disputa a estatueta de Vídeo do Ano pelo single “The Man” (prêmio que levou ano passado por “You Need to Calm Down”). Billie Eilish e Doja Cat também competem por Música do Ano por “everything i wanted” e “Say So”, respectivamente. Cat também está indicada a Melhor Novo Artista.
Apesar do sucesso massivo que fez nos últimos meses, Dua Lipa não foi relembrada em nenhuma das categorias principais. A artista lançou ‘Future Nostalgia’ no final de março, rapidamente ganhando aclame por parte da crítica – e o lançamento de singles e videoclipes marcantes como “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical” e “Break My Heart”.
A cerimônia deste ano será a primeira desde 2013 a ser apresentada no Brooklyn. Devido aos regulamentos de distanciamento social em virtude da pandemia COVID-19, o show acontecerá em frente a um “público limitado ou nenhum público”.
Além disso, a premiação conta com duas novas categorias que refletem a pandemia: Melhor Vídeo Feito em Casa e Melhor Performance da Quarentena.
O VMA 2020 será apresentado no dia 30 de agosto.
