Nesta última quinta-feira (28), Josie Totah, Shangela e Jonathan Bennett anunciaram os indicados ao GLAAD Media Awards 2021.
Os vencedores serão anunciados através de uma cerimônia virtual em abril deste ano.
Dentre os indicados, temos ‘A Voz Suprema do Blues’, ‘I May Destroy You’, ‘Você Nem Imagina‘, ‘Jovens Bruxas: Nova Irmandade’, ‘Com Amor, Victor’, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ e diversos outros títulos do cinema e da televisão que ajudaram na crescente representatividade LGBTQ+ na indústria do entretenimento.
Já no cenário musical, Lady Gaga, Pabllo Vittar, Ricky Martin e outros disputam a estatueta da categoria Melhor Artista Musical, enquanto Rina Sawayama, Phoebe Bridgers e Trixie Mattel competem em Artista Revelação.
A cada ano, a GLAAD também apresenta prêmios de reconhecimento especial não-competitivos para projetos que não entram para as categorias principais. Neste ano, a lista de homeagens inclui a trilha sonora de ‘Alguém Avisa?’, novo filme do Hulu estrelado por Kristen Stewart e Mackenzie Davis; ‘Out’, primeiro filme com um protagonista gay dos estúdios Pixar; ‘After Forever’, série da Amazon Prime Video; e muitos outros.
A premiação também restituiu o Prêmio Barbara Gittings de Excelência Midiática LGBTQ+, que honra um grupo, comunidade de mídia ou indivíduo pioneiro que fez uma contribuição significante para o desenvolvimento e a representatividade queer. Neste ano, o recipiente do prêmio será Windy City Times, jornal LGBTQ+ de Chicago estabelecido em 1985 por Jeff McCourt, Bob Bearden, Drew Badanish e Tracy Baim.
